Why cats are better than dogs! – By Miss Bunny |
I know this is a very contentious issue, and I guess that is why I chose to write about it. Following on from National Dog Day I have decided to dedicate this article to man’s other best friend; the cat! I am a mad cat woman, and I’m not afraid or ashamed to admit it. Don’t get me wrong I love dogs, and all other animals (except for wasps and jellyfish – due to being stung by both), but cats hold a very special place in my heart. Up until I left home for university I had lived with cats since I was born, and I find it very hard that I have been cat-less for the past 6 long years! Due to our lives being so up in the air and because Mr Bunny and I have lived in 7 different houses/flats in the past 6 years, it hasn’t been practical to have a pet any bigger than a gerbil. Now that both of our gerbils have passed away I am determined to get couple of kittens as soon as it practical, which will most likely be another couple of years. We have decided to spend the next few years travelling the world, with our first trip to SE Asia planned for October! Unfortunately we won’t be able to pack a kitty cat into our suitcase.
So anyway, I am writing this post to show that cats are equally deserving of a national day as dogs! They may not help the army to defuse bombs or work with a disabled person in a practical way, but they have their uses. In my opinion cats show as much love and affection as dogs, and all the cats I have been privileged enough to share my life with have been extremely loyal and have demonstrated empathy towards me on many occasions. Cats can feel when you are upset just as dogs can. Every time I have been ill whilst living with cats they have sensed it and have sat on my knee to keep an eye on me and to keep me warm. I have never experienced that from a dog. Cats are also very spiritual and sensual creatures, something which I can’t see in dogs. Cats can sense energy and respond to it, and in my opinion and experience they can see things that us humans can’t. I really get the feeling that cats have one foot in each world.
Aside from this cats have practical uses in our lives. Cats have been used to accelerate healing in people during convalescence, and to calm people with mental illnesses such as dementia. They are great companions for people of all ages, but need to be supervised when with very young children, just as dogs do.
So what do you think? Are you a cat person, a dog person, or both?

The Big Bang Theory; A review – By Miss Bunny |
The Big Bang Theory first made its way into US TV in 2007. Set in Pasadena, California this hilarious sitcom tells the story of a group of social misfits as they make their way through their super awkward daily lives. The four friends also happen to be scientists working at the California Institute of Technology and are all extremely intelligent and at the top of their individual fields of study. The main two characters are Sheldon Cooper, a theoretical physicist and his roommate Leonard Hofstadter who is an experimental physicist. Their leading roles are supported by their two equally socially inept college friends Howard Wolowitz and Rajesh Koothrappali. The final of the main characters is Penny, a beautiful and popular girl who lives across the hall from Leonard and Sheldon. Penny is a part-time waitress and budding actress who although she isn’t as academically able as the boys, she has far better social skills and more common sense than all of them put together. The program follow the boys, Penny and all of the hilarious, ridiculous and often touching situations they find themselves in.
I don’t want to give too much away because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen TBBT yet, but I have to say that one of the best thing about this series has got to be the excellent character development. The writers have really taken the time to create a back story for each character, as well as to provide the viewer with enough information about each character’s likes, dislikes, habits and general personality that you find yourself talking about them as though they are real people. You feel happy when something nice happens to them, and sad when they are upset by something or let down by another person in the group. The four boys really illustrates some of the main problems that boys (particularly geeky boys) have with girls – the inability to talk properly in their presence, talking too much in their presence, desperate and over self-deprecating with no self-confidence, etc etc. You really do feel for them when they have trouble with their ‘issues’, and you find yourself routing for them if they ever show signs on improvement.
Another great element, and perhaps the most unique part of the program has got to be their immensely intelligent storylines and rambling scientific lectures which Sheldon often gives the rest of the group. Some serious though and research must go into creating this type of dialog. It’s not simply your run of the mill ‘Na-ha, ah-ha!’ rubbish that you get in most American sitcoms, it’s truly brainy stuff! But despite how serious this sounds, the entire program is light-hearted, fun and hysterical from start to finish, with the odd soft moment when your heart swells and your eyes fill up. This has happened to me twice so far during some incredibly sweet moments between Sheldon and Penny. Finally, it has to be said that there is nothing quite like TBBT on TV right now, it manages to be both light-hearted and intellectual at the same time. You can check it out on E4, have a look at the website for more info…http://www.e4.com/bigbangtheory/
That’s for reading my ramblings again,

I love My Name is Earl – By Billi |
“You know the kind of guy who does nothing but bad things and then wonders why his life sucks? Well, that was me. Every time something good happened to me, something bad was always waiting round the corner: Karma. That’s when I realized that I had to change, so I made a list of everything bad I’ve ever done and one by one I’m gonna make up for all my mistakes. I’m just trying to be a better person. My Name is Earl.”
My Name is Earl has got to be, without contention, my very favourite TV series of all time. I’m not quite sure of when I first started watching it, but I know that I was hooked from the start.
For those of you who haven’t seen Earl yet, first of all shame on you! Secondly make sure you watch it every evening on E4! The basic story is about a man called Earl (obviously) who used to live the life of crime, thieving, lying and generally getting into trouble left right and centre, until one day when he wins $100,000 on the lottery. Unfortunately he is promptly hit by a car and the winning ticket is lost. While lying in his hospital bed Earl has an epiphany; he will cease his life of crime and try to put all of his wrongs right. He makes a list of all his misdemeanours and as soon as he is out of hospital he sets about fixing the lives (and the property) he has damaged. He believes that if he improves his karma, he will be rewarded with a better life. And he is proved right as soon after he completed the first tasks on his list, Earl is rewarded with the return of his lost lottery ticket!
So each of the four seasons give the audience a glimpse into Earl’s life as he travels around the fictional rural county of Camden with his brainless, but loveable brother Randy. With $100,000 in their possession the brothers are about to spend all of their time making right what Earl made wrong. As time goes on Earl’s interest in karma becomes less and less selfish. He begins to develop empathy and a sense of ethics about how he and Randy live their lives. He begins to do good for good’s sake.
I think the main reason that I enjoy watching Earl so much is not simply the fact that each episode is packed with one liners, hilarious scenarios and amazing character’s such as Earl beautiful but crazy ex-wife Joy. It is because you really care about Earl, Randy and their quest. The writers have taken time to manipulate the audience into feeling that they are behind Earl and want him to succeed. He goes to great lengths to strike people off his list, and his sense of what is right and wrong really demonstrate that he is the best kind of person, despite his chequered past. It really is a metaphor for life. No matter what has happened in your past, everyone has the ability to change their ways, make something of themselves and leave a positive legacy. And that is why I love My Name is Earl.
Thanks for reading my first ever post!

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena; a Review – By Miss Bunny |
So following on from my review of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, below is my review of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.
The premise for the second season of the Spartacus drama is centred on a time (perhaps a few years) before Spartacus first graced the sand of the arena in Capua, and when Batiatus senior was still in charge of the ludus. The main character is a gladiator who also happens to be Batiatus junior’s original champion. His name is Gannicus, a Celt, who wields a sword with skill and chops down any opponent who faces him with ease. Batiatus ploughs a fortune into Gannicus, believing that he too holds as much ambition for glory and riches as Batiatus himself does. Gannicus is advertised as the best champion that the House of Batiatus has ever seen – he enjoys the screams of the fans and wine and women that come as the spoils of his success.
During this prequel we are also introduced to Crixus, a Gaul who will later (in Blood and Sand) become Batiatus’ second champion. During this season he is mocked and hated by the other gladiators and receives death threats. This is all the more poignant to people who have watched Blood and Sand, because they know what Crixus can and will become after some training. We also get to see how the relationship between Lucretia (Batiatus’ wife) and Crixus develops, and how and why it started.
I must say that I am hard pressed to choose which season I enjoyed the most. Gods of the Arena shows us a time when the House of Batiatus is still finding its feet within the upper echelons of Capua’s elite society. We see Batiatus junior take control of the ludus, we see Oenomaus become Doctore and we get to meet his wife Melitta. Perhaps my favourite aspects of this season are that we get a sneak peak of just how ruthless Lucretia is, which explains some of her actions in Blood and Sand. We also see why Solonius, who is in this season a close friend of Batiatus, ends up hating him so much.
I definitely suggest watching these two seasons in the correct order. Don’t be tempted to watch the prequel first, it won’t have the same effect on you and you won’t gasp in the right places when a story or mystery comes together! But seriously, go and buy/download now or risk missing out!
I will be back with a review of Spartacus: Vengeance next year

Spartacus: Blood & Sand; a Review – By Miss Bunny |
It is very rare to come across a decent TV series these days. UK soaps like Corrie and EastEnders are just massive piles to recycled shite with depressing story lines and one dimensional characters; they really aren’t for me. I’m not saying that the people who watch them religiously are depressing and one dimensional…or maybe I am! In my opinion (which is after all what this article is about) they are an overly sanitised and dramatic portrayal of life in the UK, and a giggle is a rare treat in the never-ending stream of rubbish storylines. I much prefer the light-hearted (and sometimes darkly genius) exports from the US. The best ones have to be Family Guy, the Big Bang Theory & My Name is Earl. Family Guy is simply amazing, end of story. It’s dark, funny and sometimes totally sick. It must be the first and only animated series that makes you think ‘wow, they very nearly crossed the line there’. It has a massive cult following and as the years pass the quality of the animation and the plots is only getting better and better. The other two programs; The Big Bang Theory and My Name is Earl are much more light-heated, and in the case of The Big Bang Theory; utterly and completely genius. Both programs have a stellar cast, funny story lines and you really learn to care about the characters. I have a massive soft spot for Earl and for Sheldon and I really care about their lives and how they interact with the other characters, they are easy to love. This is something which you cannot say about any of the people who frequent the Queen Vic or the Rover’s Return!
Baring all of this in mind, I was very intrigued when I first heard about a new US show called ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’. Filmed on location in New Zealand; Spartacus is the story of a Thracian soldier who joins a Roman auxiliary unit in order to defend his land from an enemy tribe. After the Roman’s betray him and his people, the Thracian (who will later be named Spartacus) leads a mutiny against the Roman commander and returns to his wife to find his village burned to the ground. He then goes on the run with his wife, but is quickly tracked down by the Roman commander and condemned to die in the arena as a gladiator. His wife is ripped from his arms and taken into slavery.
I won’t tell you any more of the storyline because I don’t want to spoil it for you! But seriously, go and buy/download it now because it is awesome! As a qualified archaeologist with a keen interest in ancient Rome I knew I would love this before I laid eyes on the first episode. I can even forgive the multitude of historical inaccuracies, such as the type of armour the Roman soldiers wear (this would not have been worn until AD something or other, certainly not BC), and the fact that Batiatus (the lanista) even considered breaking into political office. None of that spoilt Spartacus for me in any way. There is something for everyone in this series; an exciting plot, good actors, excellent character development, sex, action, blood and guts! An action-packed, mile-a-minute historical drama with gorgeous actors and a sexy (very nearly pornographic) twist! What’s not to like?
The great news is that following on from the massive success of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, the network decided to move forward with the project and make a second series. Unfortunately the star of the show; Andy Whitfield (Spartacus) fell ill with cancer, so while he received treatment they created a six part prequel called Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, and are filming the third season- Spartacus: Vengeance as I type this. Sadly Andy is still ill, so was unable to return to the series and the role of Spartacus had to be recast. So far all of the tiny bits of information I have gleaned from Googling ‘Spartacus: Vengeance’ suggest that the new actor; Liam McIntyre, is doing a great job of filling Andy’s shoes. I literally can’t wait for the new series to be released at the beginning of next year!
Keep your eyes peeled for my follow up review of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena!

Is Barbie a Good Role Model? – By Kate Smith |
Intro:
Barbie is the ultimate Blonde Bombshell. More famous even than Marilyn Munroe or Britney Spears, the ageless icon celebrates her 52nd birthday this year. Still perfectly toned, free from wrinkles and grey hair Barbie is the perfect lithe, sexy and independent woman who totally eclipses her ‘intersex’ companion Ken in every way. Babs is in charge, no questions asked!
Barbie has enjoyed admiration in a constant stream since her first appearance in 1959. The first ever Barbie wore a black and white swimming suit and came with blonde or black hair and a tiny waist. These days you can buy a ‘Video Girl Barbie’ which has an inbuilt video camera in her chest which records and plays back clips on a small screen on her back. There are also ‘Barbie Basics’ dolls are available for a slightly older audience who might not want glitter and sparkles everywhere! It’s not only children that have enjoyed Barbie’s charms over the years. She is popular with grandmothers, mothers and daughters alike. Barbie is close to many of our hearts. From a very young age girls look up to her. And how could they possible miss her, Barbie is everywhere – there’s Barbie dolls, games, makeup, clothes, and websites!
However, Barbie’s evolution has not always been a smooth and positive one. The Barbie Ban Bill, crafted by Democratic Delegate Jeff Eldridge, insists that Barbie influence girls to give more importance to physical beauty at the expense of their intellectual and emotional development. Whether you agree with Jeff or not, everyone knows that Barbie is a contentious role model…and then some!
Is Barbie a Good Role Model?
First of all let’s look at Barbie’s physical appearance to determine her worth as a role model. The modern Barbie is extremely slim, and she has always been that way since her release all those years ago. She also has large breasts which many say are unrealistic when compared to the size of her waist and thighs. If Barbie was a real life-sized woman she would be 35 pounds underweight for her height. So her exaggerated breasts, impossibly long legs, non-existent hips, and her tiny waist represent proportions that are utterly unrealistic and unattainable in the real world – unless you resort to huge amounts of painful and expensive surgery as a small number of women have. There are many groups out there (usually consisting of middle-aged American women) who say that Barbie is guilty of promoting an unrealistic vision of the perfect woman. Perhaps ironically, Barbie’s creator Ruth Handler was diagnosed with breast cancer in the 1970s and went on to develop ‘Nearly Me’; a prosthetic breast for use following a mastectomy. Her product was created to look and feel as natural as possible.
Secondly we need to look at the ‘theme’ of some of the Barbie’s currently available on the market. One of the most contentious dolls has got to be the ‘Totally Stylin Tattoos’ doll which comes supplied with tattoo stickers for herself and 40 temporary tattoos for her owner to wear. Is this really something we want to be encouraging our children to do? There is also a ‘Barbie Loves Glitter Nails’ doll which comes with press on nails for her owner. Hmmm… introducing false nails to little girls, I’m not sure about this either. By far the most contentious Barbie ever produced as got to be the ‘Happy Families’ doll which depicted Barbie’s friend Midge pregnant with her second child. The pregnant Midge doll was banned and removed from store shelves in early 2000 after parents complained that Midge appeared to be too young to be pregnant.
Aside from the dolls mentioned above, the ‘I Can Be…’ range of dolls show Barbie in the guise of a doctor, dentist, news anchor, vet, architect and computer engineer which no can argue are all noble pursuits for a bombshell! Barbie is more than just bleached blonde hair and big boobs, she is a strong woman who knows what she wants from life and works hard to achieve it. That can’t be a bad thing for little girls to aspire to. There is a ‘I Can Be…Bride’, but we can forgive her for that!
It is clear that Barbie is still important to girls as they grow into women. In 2007 the MAC makeup brand launched a range of official Barbie makeup products. Women could buy lipstick, eye shadow, mascara, blusher and nail polish all in shades inspired by Barbie and her entourage proving that we are never too old for Barbie.
Conclusion:
For many of us Barbie is associated with one of the best times of our lives; our early childhood. Thinking of her brings on a warm and safe feeling, a feeling that we had when we were little playing on the floor in our bedrooms with our pastel coloured toys. So are parents worrying too much (as usual) about what their children are being exposed to? Will a little girl really look at a Barbie doll and think ‘when I am older I want to look like this?’ I don’t think so. After all, most modern mother’s will have played with a Barbie when they were children, and I bet 99.9% of them would say that Barbie had no detrimental effect on their life as a women.
This being said young girls should be encouraged by their parents to view Barbie in the correct way – as a fantasy figure who does not exist in the real world – like a sparkly unicorn or a fairy. Not as something to aspire to or emulate physically.
After all, she’s just a toy….right?
I would love to hear your opinions on my first post!
Kate Smith.
Nice post. I learn one thing more difficult on completely different blogs everyday. It is going to at all times be stimulating to learn content material from other writers and apply just a little something from their store. Id choose to make use of some with the content on my weblog whether you dont mind. Natually Ill offer you a hyperlink on your web blog. Thanks for sharing.
Trust your first post to be about Barbie Kate! How typical of you!
I love how you feel so passionate about her, she really is an icon for many people, young and old. You really are bang on the money when you say that Barbie reminds people of their childhood. She reminds me of being free and innocent and obsessed with pink. She reminds me of the good old days...
You've really made me want to buy myself a Barbie now!
x
p.s. pregant Barbie?! That is kinda weird!
I love Barbie, she's well fit!!
Bet I just illustrated your point there right?
Yeh pretty much, but thanks for your comment anyway! xx
Excellent post Kate, can't believe this is your first one!
I agree with you wholeheartedly that Barbie is a role model in some circumstances, but that little girls need to know to take some aspects of her (esp her physical appearence) as a fantasy and not what real-life women should look like....says me the tiny bleach blonde doll-like creature!
Much love! xxx
The Effects of Pornography on Young People; Part 2 – By Miss Bunny |
Argument two:
‘Porn cannot be blamed exclusively for the way children, and young man and women act. Music videos, TV programs, gaming and the fashion industry also play a part in how these groups view sex and relationships, and how they view themselves.'
It is a well-known fact that children spend more time watching TV than they do any other activity during their average day-to-day life, and it has a significant effect on their health and wellbeing. Through TV, music videos and computer games children and young people have an extraordinary amount of exposure to scenes of real-life and simulated sexual experiences. This coupled with the reluctance of many parents and teachers to tackle these issues head on has made the media many young people’s most influential teacher when it comes to sex education. I don’t intend to try and point the finger at parents here; however the amount of late night TV that the average underage child is free to watch appears to be on the up. These programs (including music videos) often show a glamourized version of sex without responsibility which encourages young people and teens to see sex in a skewed manner. I consider myself to be pretty difficult to shock when it comes to explicit demonstrations of sex in TV programs, but I have even found myself cringing slightly at some of the stuff I’m seeing, often just after the 9 o’clock watershed. I can only imagine how those scenes are affecting young people! It is believe that overly sexual scenes in music videos are particularly influential, as young people are seeing their idols acting out these scenes and have a desire to emulate what they are seeing.
Gaming is another area for concern. I would say that this is less important with regards to children; however it has a wide distribution amongst teenagers. Sex is often depicted in a care-free and often violent way in some of the most popular games targeted at a teenage audience. For example Grand Theft Auto: Vice City shows simulated sex with, and then the murder of a prostitute. While this game has an 18 certificate in the UK, there is nothing to stop a young person from playing on their older sibling or parent’s copy of the game. To make matters worse GTA and other violent and sexually explicit games such as are regularly advertised before the watershed and during programs which are watched by children and teenagers.
Finally, I believe that it is important to mention that impact that the fashion industry has on children and teenagers, particularly girls. Provocative clothing items have been in the media recently with stories about padded bikini tops aimed at 7 year olds (source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8619329.stm), and t-shirts carrying slogans like ‘born to be a porn star’ targeted at young girls (source: http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk). Thankfully these issues are now being address and tackles by the government and we should see a reduction in provocative clothing in the shops and online. And not a moment too soon in my opinion as their effect on the premature sexualisation of children and young teenagers cannot be overestimated. You only need to walk down your local high street on a Saturday morning to see large groups of girls in miniskirts, tight jogging bottoms with ‘Juicy’ written across the behind and hair extensions.
Conclusion:
While I am a very ‘live and let live’ type of person, I cannot help but feel uncomfortable with the sheer amount of sexual content that I am exposed to on a daily basis. Even if I make no attempts to seek out sexually explicit material, it always seems to be there staring me in the face. That being said, I also do not feel that pornography can be wholly blamed for the increase in regularity and the reduction in age of those engaging in sexual behaviour before their 16th birthday. What is also of concern is the type of sex teenagers who are over the age of consent are getting involved with. These days STDs are prevalent, as is group sex and sex without responsibility or any emotional attachment. I’m not going to be a hypocrite here and say that casual sex is wrong, but I will say that it appals me to hear of kids aged 16/17 sleeping their way around their classroom. Unfortunately this trend only appears to be getting worse, despite the attempts of TV programs such as The Sex Education Show (http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-sex-education-show) to bring teenagers back down to earth with regards to real life sex and real life bodies.
These days children and teens are more likely to have unsupervised time watching TV in their rooms where their parents have no idea what their children are watching or how they are being influenced. Couple this with an increase in the amount of Xbox and PlayStation consoles in the average teenager’s room and you are looking at a real problem. Obviously adding unsupervised internet use into this mix is not helping the situation, but internet porn cannot be taken in isolation and blamed for the fallout from this over exposure to sexual material. The buck must stop somewhere, but it is hard to decide where. Obviously parents have their part to play in trying to ensure that their children are not getting too much access to late night TV, inappropriate games and clothing styles, but it is hard to see how this can be enough. Advertisers, TV bosses, artists and movie stars also need to consider how their work and their actions affect our youth.
Thanks for reading and I would love to hear your feedback,
--Miss Bunny xx
Excellent work!
I watched LOADS of porn when I was a young teenager and I turned out fine....ish. Parents just need to be aware of what their kids are doing more often rather than letting them run wild and rack up the ASBOs. Fucking kids!
It's pretty simple really...
Brilliant article Miss B, very thought provoking... I'm going to do my usual and sit on the fence like you have. Yes pornography has a detrimental effect on youngsters, but it can not be blamed for everything. In fact porn is just a scapegoat in many ways, and easy target for those who are stuck up and think porn is wrong, wrong, WRONG. Not the case!
Excellent work!

The Effects of Pornography on Young People; Part 1 – By Miss Bunny |
Hey guys! The below post is a bit of a break from tradition for me and is much more serious than the articles I usually write. But give it a read and I would love to hear your feedback and opinions. This is part one of two...
Introduction:
These days, locating hard-core pornography on the internet is as easy as Googling the word ‘sex’. With minimal blocks between the search results page and a websites hosting pornographic material (usually amounting to no more than an age verification), access to porn by young people is as easily as it has ever been. Combine this ease in access with the ability to delete your history, and you have a recipe for disaster.
Critics worry at length about the effect that excessive exposure to pornography has on an adult’s home life and way of thinking, but even more about its impact on children and teens whose minds are open and whose personalities are easily moulded by outsides forces.
This blog post is much more serious than my previous musings, in fact my last post was a review a feature length porno called Pirates XXX, so why so serious? Well, I am going to try and argue both sides for why porn has an adverse effect on our young people, but why it cannot be blamed entirely for the fact that these days, sex seems to have been relegated in importance and engaged in by increasingly young people.
Throughout the main section of this post I will present the two opposing argument for and against porn being the single most influential elements in how a young person views sex and relationships.
Argument one:
‘Watching porn makes young men see women as sex objects, and makes young woman feel that they have to imitate the women in porn (in both appearance and behaviour) to be deemed attractive and worthy of affection.’
The above argument may seem to be a very broad statement to many, however it has been given the popular vote, and is the default viewpoint of many people, particularly parents, teachers and other groups whom have a close relationship with young people and teenagers. The belief is that those who frequently view porn sites (particularly hard-core porn sites) are far more likely to see sex as a purely physical activity, and to see woman as sex objects or as play things. Here’s a few figures to illustrate how far reaching this issue has become…
- Every second over $3,000 is being spent on pornography.
- Every second over 28,000 internet users are viewing pornography.
- In that same second 372 internet users are typing adult search terms into search engines.
- Every 39 minutes a new pornographic video is being created in the U.S. (source: http://internet-filter-review.toptenreviews.com/internet-pornography-sta... (2006 data)
- Each year 42% of 10-17 year olds view pornographic material online, either deliberately, or by accident. (source: http://www.dadtalk.net/2007/02/many_children_a.html (2007 data)
This data is from 2006/2007, so we are looking at even higher numbers now.
This argument even goes as far as to state (in a US study) that early expose to explicit pornography can be linked to a greater involvement in deviant sexual behaviour such as rape. The study indicated that young people are receiving the message that sex without any repercussions is normal and desirable.
It is common knowledge that young people copy what they see other people, particularly adults doing. It is believe that expose to pornographic material encourages children to act out what they see with their peers or with younger children. Experts in the field of childhood sexual abuse state that sexual activity in young people below the age of consent commonly points to two situations; either the child has experience of sexual situations from their own life (eg. sexual abuse), or they have been exposed to sexual content such as pornography.
During certain critical points in each person’s childhood, the brain is being programmed. This programming with eventually form the basis for many elements of the child’s personality, both for the rest of their childhood, and in later life. Sexual orientation is one of the elements which are hardwired during the early part of our lives so it is very important during this time that a child is exposed to healthy examples of sexual attitudes. If they are exposed to explicit pornographic material during this critical time it may become etched into the child’s programming and have a massive effect on their sexual orientation. Another important point to make is that once a child is old enough to legally view porn (and let’s not forget that pornography is wholly legal when viewed by the correct demographic), they will seek more deviant and violent forms of pornography, as mild pornographic material no longer satisfies their desire for explicit imagery.
Another way that pornography is damaging young people via their increased experience of sexual behaviour is by the increase in children with sexually transmitted infections such as Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea. There has also been a massive increase in teen pregnancy rates over the past few years, and the trend seems to be up, not down.
Finally, I think that it is important to note that not all children are as vulnerable to the impact that limited expose to pornography can bring. Some children are predisposed to the effects of porn for many reasons including mental health issues, a risk-taking personality and lack of interpersonal skills. All children are different and will react to any expose (deliberate or accidental ) in vastly different ways.
...to be continued...
Part two is coming soon which will outline the opposing argument and give my conclusion.
Thanks for reading,

Pirates XXX ; A review – By Miss Bunny |
I decided to write a review of Pirates as it is the first and only feature length porno I have ever seen, and what a way to start my big-budget porn exploration! First of all, for anyone who has not watched this movie make sure you download/buy/beg/steal it and give it a go, you won’t be disappointed! And so to the review…
To give you a bit of background, Pirates (aka. Pirate XXX) was released in 2005 and features some well-known porn stars such as Jesse Jane (of ‘Body Heat’ fame), Carmen Luvana (of ‘Carmen Inked’ fame) & Evan Stone (of ‘Rage of Bonan’ fame – lol!). The basic plot is centred about a group of pirate hunters lead by their clueless, but well-meaning captain Edward Reynolds (Stone), and his super sexy and streetwise first mate Jules (Jane). The movie follows Edward’s ship as it tracks down a notoriously vicious pirate captain called Victor Stagnetti, and his blood-thirsty first mate Serena. The pirate hunters are set upon their pirating-killing path when they come across a young woman floating on a piece of wreckage in the ocean. Her name is Isabella (Luvana), and she tells them that pirates kidnapped her husband and destroyed his ship. Isabella’s husband turns out to be a descendant of a family who were entrusted with protecting a magical scepture, a scepture which Stagnetti wants. Ever the noble protector, Edward decides that they will track the pirates down and prevent them from completing their mission before killing them for good measure.
Throughout the story there are plenty of laughs (particularly where captain Edward is concerned!) and plenty sex of various kinds between various characters in various locations. A swashbucklingly good time is had by all for 132 minutes!
So, what did I think about the movie…Well, as a newby to the feature length porn movie world I don’t have much to compare Pirates to. However, the production is decent, the CGI is only mildly cheesy, the actors are beautiful (mostly) and the sex scenes are what you would expect from a big budget porno.
One thing that really did stand out for me was the hilarity of the entire experience. This movie really is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. The light-hearted atmosphere really lends itself well to being a first attempt at porn for people (especially couples) who haven’t watched much porn before. It would also be a great movie to suggest to your girlfriend (or boyfriend) if they haven’t got much experience with porn, or if they aren’t usually that keen on watching it. The ability to laugh at it together will remove almost all cringy moments when the sex bits come along…and come along they will…with great regularity! It is a must for any pirate, comedy or porn fan, so go and give it a watch!
Finally I will end this review with some amusing trivia. Pirates XXX was filmed on board a replica of HMS Bounty in Florida. The ship’s owners were not privy to the fact that Pirates was a porno, in fact they were told that the film would be a ‘Disney-type pirate film for families’ – I can only imagine their faces when the film was released…
